To help prevent stretch marks and enhance the natural resilience of your skin, add essential oils to your skin-care preparations and massage yourself regularly. Lavender and neroli are particularly helpful in preventing stretch marks.
Don’t forget that essentials oils are concentrated and should not be applied undiluted to the skin. Always add essential oils to a carrier oil such as sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil, sunflower oil, olive oil, or sesame oil.
If you’re familiar with Ayurvedic medicine, you may want to choose a carrier oil that is compatible with your constitution. Ayurvedic identifies there constitutions, or doshas—pitta, vata, and kapha. Coconut and sunflower oils are cooling for pitta. Sesame oil and olive oil are recommended for vata; and sesame and sunflower oils are good for kapha. Banyan Botanicals sells high quality, organic, carrier oils for self-massage. Take the quiz here to determine your dosha.
