Human PregnancyTo help prevent stretch marks and enhance the natural resilience of your skin, add essential oils to your skin-care preparations and massage yourself regularly. Lavender and neroli are particularly helpful in preventing stretch marks.

Don’t forget that essentials oils are concentrated and should not be applied undiluted to the skin. Always add essential oils to a carrier oil such as sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil, sunflower oil, olive oil, or sesame oil.

CARRIER OILS

If you’re familiar with Ayurvedic medicine, you may want to choose a carrier oil that is compatible with your constitution. Ayurvedic identifies there constitutions, or doshas—pitta, vata, and kapha. Coconut and sunflower oils are cooling for pitta. Sesame oil and olive oil are recommended for vata; and sesame and sunflower oils are good for kapha. BELLY BUTTER RECIPE

Here is an excellent skin enhancer that may be massaged into your entire body or just on your abdomen.

  • 1 oz. vitamin E oil
  • 3 oz. carrier oil of your choice
  • 25 drops lavender essential oil
  • 5 drops neroli essential oil
  • 5 drops frankincense essential oil
  • 5 drops lemongrass essential oil

Combine the vitamin E and carrier oil in a clean glass or plastic container. Add essentials oils one at a time, shaking or mixing gently. Apply as often as you like.
